Ready to apply?

Jobs Academy is free for participants, thanks to support from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s Office for Women. For our next intake starting in February 2023, Jobs Academy is open to women and gender diverse people aged over 40 years old, located anywhere in Australia.

We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, women living in rural, regional and remote locations, women from culturally diverse backgrounds and women living with a disability.

In your application, we’ll ask some questions about you, your career goals and why you want to join the Academy. Nearly all questions are multiple-choice and don’t require you to rush around finding any paperwork. The whole process won’t take longer than 15 minutes.

If you’re still on the fence about applying, please know this: If you want to return to work, then we want to work with you. Jobs Academy is the best, well-connected, supportive and knowledgeable friend that you haven’t met yet.

Once you submit your completed application, our team will get to work. We will notify you of the outcome within four – six weeks, if not sooner. If you have a problem or need help, please contact us via jobsacademy@futurewomen.com.

We look forward to hearing from you.

When applications are open: all you need to do is complete the application form where we’ll ask some questions about you, your career goals and why you want to join the Academy.

The application form takes less than 15 minutes to complete and after you hit the ‘submit’ button – you’ve officially applied for Jobs Academy! It’s that simple.

When applications are closed: still make sure to submit an expression of interest. Those who submit an expression of interest will be the first to know when the next intake opens.

Jobs Academy is fully virtual and open to women across Australia, including those in regional and rural areas.

It’s our goal to help you develop the confidence, capabilities and connections to forge ahead with your career – regardless of where you’re located.

Jobs Academy gives you access to best-practice learning and career development.

You can upskill in our live, interactive webinars on topics ranging from resume writing to negotiating flexible work. You’ll become part of our vibrant community of women and receive guidance from professional mentors in our small group mentoring sessions.

You will have the opportunity to connect with employers at our virtual Jobs Fairs and learn about vacancies, returnship and training programs.

At the end of your 12 months in the Academy you will receive a lifetime Future Women membership so you can continue building your network and access support from the community.

We know that women over 40 are highly valued employees. And yet research shows that not only do women face greater barriers to employment than men, but those barriers become more entrenched as we get older.

The result is that older Australian women are at risk of retiring with little to no superannuation, with a growing number retiring into poverty

If you are younger than 40, please still submit an application. We plan to expand Jobs Academy to more women and would love to include you in the future.

Jobs Academy is designed to help you find a job and build a secure, rewarding career.

The application survey helps us identify who will benefit most from Jobs Academy and provides a benchmark against which to measure the impact of the program.

Jobs Academy proudly partners with employers that offer flexible work and supportive environments. You’ll have the opportunity to meet them through our virtual Jobs Fairs, where jobs, training and returnship programs will be advertised.

Our career development and training program will give you the best possible chance of success. The purpose and passion of our Jobs Academy team is to equip you with the tools you need to land your next job, on your own terms.

Jobs Academy is designed to support women who face barriers to employment. This means we welcome participants who are unemployed, underemployed, in unsecure casual employment or who need to make a change.

Searching for work can be challenging and emotional, as well as exciting. Transitioning back to work is also overwhelming for many women, especially after a prolonged career break.

If you’re struggling and require professional support, our team can connect you with external support services, run by experienced mental health professionals.

Jobs Academy will include a year long series of webinars, mentoring sessions and online events. Our sessions cover a whole host of topics designed to be relevant to any industry.

We’ll cover important topics like resumes, cover letters and selection criteria, negotiating flexible work arrangements, confidence in the workplace, managing up, managing stress and financial literacy, to name but a few.
