Join our mid-year intake of Jobs Academy

The Carers Australia mid-year intake is open to women and gender diverse people, located anywhere in Australia, who are:

• Unpaid carers: Carers are people who provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or other drug issue or who are frail aged. 
• Not currently engaged in full-time, paid work.
• Are an Australian citizen, permanent resident or have working rights in Australia.
• Aged 18 years and over.

The Carers Australia mid-year intake for Jobs Academy will commence in mid July and conclude at the end of January 2024. It will offer the same activities, resources and webinars as the usual Jobs Academy program.

Carers Australia is the national peak body representing Australia’s unpaid carers, advocating on their behalf to influence policies and services at a national level. Carers Australia’s vision is an Australia that values and supports the contribution that carers make both to the people they care for and to the community as a whole.

We encourage you to apply and we will keep your application for consideration in future intakes of Jobs Academy. 

Jobs Academy is completely free with no cost to participants, thanks to support from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s Office for Women.

The mid-year intake for Jobs Academy 2023 is in collaboration with Carers Australia.

We encourage Jobs Academy participants to allocate 1-2 hours to the program each week. Some weeks may require more, and others less.

We’ve designed Jobs Academy to work within your schedule so everything is online and flexible.

Jobs Academy is designed to support women who face barriers to employment. This means we welcome participants who are unemployed, underemployed, in unsecure casual employment or who need to make a change.

For the 2023 mid-year intake, eligible applicants must not currently be engaged in full-time, paid work to be eligible.

Jobs Academy is fully virtual and open to women across Australia, including those in regional and rural areas.

It’s our goal to help you develop the confidence, capabilities and connections to forge ahead with your career – regardless of where you’re located.

Jobs Academy gives you access to best-practice learning and career development.

You can upskill in our live, interactive webinars on topics ranging from resume writing to negotiating flexible work. You’ll become part of our vibrant community of women and receive guidance from professional mentors in our small group mentoring sessions.

You will have the opportunity to connect with employers at our virtual Jobs Fairs and learn about vacancies, returnship and training programs.

At the end of the year you will receive a lifetime FW membership so you can continue building your network and access support from the community.

Jobs Academy includes a series of webinars, mentoring sessions and online events. Our sessions cover a whole host of topics designed to be relevant to any industry.

We’ll cover important topics like resumes, cover letters and selection criteria, negotiating flexible work arrangements, confidence in the workplace, managing up, managing stress and financial literacy, to name but a few.
