Disability Support Worker Pre-Employment Program

Generation Australia is an organisation working to close the skills gap in Australia through accelerated and accessible training programs. They’re currently recruiting for the October 2025 intake of their free Disability Support Worker (DSW) Program.
The program runs for 5 weeks and will equip you with all the technical and personal care skills needed for a support worker role. Following the program, Generation Australia will support you with job applications, supply industry insights and connect you with employers.
What’s included in the program?
- The program is completely free and online.
- Access to mentorship and holistic support.
- Support for students without access to a computer is available in special cases.
Generation Australia are particularly interested in applicants from NSW, as well as Gippsland, Victoria. This intake also has a particular focus on supporting women from CALD backgrounds and First Nations people.

Opportunities at Stitch the Gap
September 30th, 2025 by Eddie BiggsStitch the Gap is an initiative by Community Support Services that equips women who face multiple social, economic and cultural barriers to employment with commercial sewing skills and machines, creating pathways to self-employment and paid work. They’re currently recruiting for two part-time roles based in Bankstown, Sydney.

As part of the team at Stitch the Gap, you’ll be helping to empower marginalised women and families build better futures for themselves and their families. Free upskilling courses are also provided to help you attain the skills you need.

NSW Public Sector Apprentices and Trainees Program

The NSW Government has committed to employing an additional 1,000 apprentices and trainees in government agencies and state-owned corporations over three years, until 30 June 2026. This round of of the program will support up to 430 apprenticeship and traineeship roles.
These apprenticeships and traineeship opportunities can help you to:
- earn on the job,
- access excellent career opportunities,
- gain support from highly experienced industry professionals,
- build practical experiences and
- earn nationally recognised qualifications.
These opportunities lead you into careers in cyber security, health services and education. A full list of available roles can be viewed here.
Women returning to work will be prioritised by the NSW Government and they’re particularly interested in applications from Jobs Academy members. If successful, you’ll receive access to a range of support services like mentorship programs and regular check-ins.
