Volunteer with Vinnies

- Working in a Vinnies shop, depot or support centre
- Helping with day-to-day admin
- Tutoring refugee families.
Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community whilst learning new skills and making connections. Vinnies have a range of volunteering opportunities to suit all commitment levels from weekly, monthly, quarterly or ad-hoc volunteering.

NB: Vinnies is a Catholic lay organisation. They welcome people of all backgrounds and beliefs who support their mission to help people who are disadvantaged and living in poverty. You do not need to be Catholic to volunteer.
Counselling Jobs at 1800RESPECT

As a counsellor with 1800RESPECT, you’ll:

NSW Public Sector Apprentices and Trainees Program

The NSW Government has committed to employing an additional 1,000 apprentices and trainees in government agencies and state-owned corporations over three years, until 30 June 2026. This round of of the program will support up to 430 apprenticeship and traineeship roles.
These apprenticeships and traineeship opportunities can help you to:
- earn on the job,
- access excellent career opportunities,
- gain support from highly experienced industry professionals,
- build practical experiences and
- earn nationally recognised qualifications.
These opportunities lead you into careers in cyber security, health services and education. A full list of available roles can be viewed here.
Women returning to work will be prioritised by the NSW Government and they’re particularly interested in applications from Jobs Academy members. If successful, you’ll receive access to a range of support services like mentorship programs and regular check-ins.

Volunteer and work at Karitane

Work for the Census
August 12th, 2025 by Eddie BiggsWith not long to go until the 2026 Census, the Australia Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is hiring people to fill critically important jobs in locations across the country. Jobs are varied, but predominantly involve outreach activities to support high rates of Census participation within communities.Â
The ABS is looking for people who:
- are available to complete paid online training prior to starting work in the field,
- are available to work variable hours for the period of the contract, including weekdays, weekends and evenings,
- are keen to earn extra income in a short-term job and
- want to help make a difference for their community.
In the coming months additional jobs will be advertised, including those which require no prior experience. These jobs will be important in connecting with and supporting remote and regional communities.
