Work for the Census
August 12th, 2025 by Eddie BiggsWith 12 months to go until the 2026 Census, the Australia Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is hiring people to fill critically important jobs in locations across the country. The first jobs available are Census Engagement Managers, who will be leading outreach activities to support high rates of Census participation within their communities.
The ABS is looking for people who:
- are available to complete paid online training prior to starting work in the field,
- are available to work variable hours for the period of the contract, including weekdays, weekends and evenings,
- are keen to earn extra income in a short-term job and
- want to help make a difference for their community.
In the coming months additional jobs will be advertised, including those which require no prior experience. These jobs will be important in connecting with and supporting remote and regional communities.

Westpac MobTech Program
August 12th, 2025 by Eddie BiggsMobTech is Westpac’s Tech Cadetship designed for First Nations people looking to kickstart or further their career in technology. They’re currently recruiting for Identified full-time roles based in Sydney in a hybrid working environment.
What’s a tech cadetship and what’s in it for you?
As a Tech Cadet at Westpac, you’ll receive 10-18 weeks of training in Data Analytics or IT Support. During this time you’ll be supported by instructors and a dedicated First Nations mentor. There are also regular check-ins with other cadets and leaders to help you build your skills and network.
No prior experience in tech is required and flexible working arrangements are possible. You can learn more about the MobTech program and apply here. Applications close on 16 August.
BREED TradeReady Initiative
July 11th, 2025 by Eddie BiggsThe Blacktown Regional Economic Employment Development (BREED) Taskforce was formed in 2000 to stimulate economic and employment growth in Blacktown. Since then, they’ve expanded their core offerings to provide employment services across Western Sydney.
In collaboration with Women NSW, BREED is excited to announce the TradeReady program, designed to support Culturally and Linguistically Diverse women and their daughters for sustainable careers in trades. The project aims to foster confidence, adaptability, and emotional intelligence, helping participants enter trades and complete the first two years.
Recruitment to the program will occur in three phases:
- Stream 1: Mothers and daughters from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (July-Oct 2025)
- Stream 2: Women with limited experience (Sept-Dec 2025)
- Stream 3: Women with transferable skills (Jan-Apr 2026)

Disability Support Worker Pre-Employment Program

Generation Australia is an organisation working to close the skills gap in Australia through accelerated and accessible training programs. They’re currently recruiting for the next round of their free Disability Support Worker (DSW) Program.
The program runs for 5 weeks and will equip you with all the technical and personal care skills needed for a support worker role. Following the program, Generation Australia will support you with job applications, supply industry insights and connect you with employers.
What’s included in the program?
- The program is completely free and online.
- Access to mentorship and holistic support.
- Support for students without access to a computer is available in special cases.

Openings at LGBTIQ+ Health Australia

LHA is seeking passionate people to join the team in various roles, including policy, communications, research, mental health and suicide prevention and more. Roles are available both full-time and part-time in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.

Commbank / Hero Foundation: Tech Associate Program

The program is flexible and roles are available in Engineering, Data Science and Cybersecurity.
In collaboration with Hero Foundation, Commonwealth Bank is hosting an exciting in-person event on Wednesday, 9 July to celebrate the program’s launch. The event will feature a panel discussion about the program, as well as opportunities for informal networking.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Event name: Innovate Your Way: Tech Careers Without Degrees
- Date: Wednesday, 9 July
- Time: 5:30 – 8:00pm
- Location: CBP South, 11 Harbour Street, Sydney
- Target audience: People who would be eligible for the Tech Associate Program, key criteria being:
- Have recently completed, or are soon to complete, an alternative education pathway in tech, such as TAFE courses, bootcamps, micro-credentials and vendor certifications.
- Have less than 12 months of work experience in tech (including none at all).
- Hold Aus/NZ citizenship or PR.
